Recyclable Best Friends

So it really sucks when you realized how used you have been by the person that is supposed to be your best friend. The person that you had as your maid of honor in your wedding. I realized this this week and it really sucks. This is the person that I have came to after she hit a deer and called me hysterical, the same one that flipped her car and I went to the emergency room even though she only got one set of stitches in her shoulder. The same person that I paid for Taylor Swift tickets for and didn't get money back for 6 months and drove all the way down there and spent $150 in gas and didn't get a dime back. The one I have listened to all her boy drama and told her she deserved better. Also the person that went to give her gas money because her card wasn't working and her family was 20 minutes away. I feel like I have been a really great friend to her. Yea we have had our tiffs but lately it's like I don't really matter anymore. She has used me all she can and has found new best friends. Her mom doesn't like me because I apparently influence her to spend HER own money. Like I duct tape her debit card to her hand and force her hand to the cashier. I also apparently influence her to break up with her boyfriends who treats her like crap. What mom wants that for their daughter. She never gets to spend the night with me or anything like that but if it's a boyfriend or another girlfriend she doesn't even have to ask. I'm really just sick of it the last straw was when she applied and got the job I was trying to get knowing that I needed a second job. She doesn't need it. Her grandpa and Dad pay for all her bills...It's ridiculous she wouldn't have even known about this job if I hadn't of said that I was going to go apply. I just think its sneaky and two faced. Maybe I'm just being petty... But I'm tired of only being her best friend when she needs something. SO OVER IT!

Long Distance Relationship

So it's time for me to RANT! Yay and on my birthday at that. So the one thing I am getting sick and tired about hearing is "Long distance relationships just can't work." "They are way to hard" "I need my boyfriend here with me". What a bunch of bullshit is that. And kind of a slap in the face. Yea sometimes they don't work, but regular in the same town relationships don't work too. Yea they are hard having to love your partner when they are hundreds or thousands of miles away, and Yea you know what... I WANT MY HUSBAND HERE also BUT some things you can't change. Why is it that some people won't even give it a chance before knocking it? For one I know of 2 great guys that would be really good long distance relationships but people won't give it a shot. I will admit I used to be the girl that was at my boyfriends house EVERY day and now look at me. I dated and married a guy that is thousands of miles away. Sometimes I think that long distance relationships are the way to start a relationship. You have to learn about the person about what really makes them tick and the person they really are without the physical aspect of the relationship. Yea you might not know if they put the toilet seat down or if they smack their gum or w/e physical things they do but you learn about their heart. You learn to love unconditonally because you cannot take them for granted. You learn how strong you really are also. Take off your security blanket and open up. Your prince charming may not be in the town you are in. OPEN YOUR EYES! I will admit these relationships are hard but if you have trust, faith and love then there is no reason they can't work. Geeze people get a look at reality and stop saying Long distance relationships won't work because I imagine it's not only a slap in the face to me but to alot of other people in my position too.
PROOF!!!

New Starts

So alot has been going on lately. Alot of ups and downs but mostly good things I think. I haven't written in a while, I knew what I wanted to write about but I could not bring myself to write it. Ok so lets see in the past 2 weeks nothin completly major has happened.... I had my first client at school. I was terrified. I am a nervous person and getting my first client, I almost had a heat stroke from nervousness and overheating :) It was a black lady who wanted her hair wrapped (wrap the hair around the head like a beehive and dry it and it comes out straight) Well I had the hardest time wrapping it because a real persons hair is NOT the same as our maniquens hair which is made of asian hair and yak hair... Yes YAK! Anyways in the end she said I did a good job and she was coming back in a few weeks for me to do it again :) YAY YAY YAY and I realized that I LOVE cosmetology and CANNOT wait until my next client. The only other thing that really happened in the past 2 weeks is that we found out that my hubby is able to reenlist and we are working on that! I am soooooo proud of him and all he has accomplished and the man he is and I know that if he gets this new job he is going to be the BEST at is just like he is the BEST at what he does now! OK so the part that I couldn't pull myself to write for the past few weeks.

I have been watching One Tree Hill lately and in it, it has an episode where the main character Lucas's uncle Keith is killed. Well as some of you know my Aunt Robin died a few months ago. Let me just say this was the hardest tv show I have had to watch because I realized that yes, I have accepted that my Aunt is gone but I have not began to cope with it until now. I just put it in the back of my mind like she was just gone on a vacation and we would see her later. I bawled my eyes out during that show, not only for my Aunt Robin but for my Grandma Immeke that died when I was 18. I have not really began to cope with any of it. Yes I cried at the funeral and balled my eyes out but it still doesn't seem real. I remember after my Aunt Robins funeral we when to my Aunt Carol and Uncle Joes house to just be with friends and family and I caught myself looking around the room for my Aunt. She was the type of person that would just be the center of attention in the room and always making you laugh, her heart of Gold really just attracted people to her and her contagious laugh. I like to remember her as I remember her the last time I saw her. We had a good quality alone time. She pulled me into the bathroom at my aunts house because she wanted her eyebrows plucked. It was so funny! She barely had any hair left on her head because of the Chemo but she wanted me to pluck her eyebrows for her so they would look good. Although we only spent a few minutes together I am glad I got that last alone time with my aunt. Noone expected this or saw this coming. One moment she was learning to walk again with her walker and the next minute she was gone. I know she is soooo excited and happy now to be up in Heaven but I just ache for all that she has missed, like her grandkids and her own kids and her husband, brothers, and mom and dad. I hate that she missed my wedding and the fact that she never got the chance to meet Nick. I know she would have loved him, I hope that she would have been so proud of me on my big day and I would like to think she would have been one of the first in line to dance with me. Although growing up I wasn't that close to her I think as a teenager I began to get close to her and really LOVE her. I miss my aunt so much and I am glad to finally cope with losing her. Some deal with it in different ways and right now I'm just coping by myself. My grandma is also another person I am still coping with. Although I wasn't as close to her as I was with my aunt I still miss her on a constant basis and I prayed to God to let my Grandma be my brother and Nick's guardian angel while they were in Afghanistan. I think my Grandma knew I wasn't coping with it and didn't really deal with the fact that she as gone becasue for a few months after she died when I was alone in the house the fire alarm right by my room would go off for a few seconds. I think she sent this as a sign because she was a heavy smoker and wanted to let me know that yes, she is gone and yes she is in Heaven now. Although I didn't spend much time with her I do remember the last Christmas present she got me. I don't think I will ever get rid of those presents. She got me some ballet slipper shoes and a yellow jacket. Although the shoes hurt my feet and the jacket is getting to small they are both in my closet. I also was just giving my Grandma's Nativity scene that she made while she was making ceramic things back when I was a kid. She did great at these and I am so glad that I will have them to display in my home some day. The other thing I have of hers are 2 rings that she gave my mom to give to me. I think she knew she was dying and wanted me to have a piece of her before she died. I absolutely love my rings. They sit in my jewelry cabinet because I would die if I lost them. I miss her so much and hope that she continues to watch over my brother and Nick and also my family. I hope she would be proud of me for going to school and getting married and I hope she would have loved my wedding too and just was sitting up in Heaven looking down people watching. Never forget to tell those you love that you love them because like my Grandma and Aunt they could be gone without warning and you will always carry that around with you. What if I didn't tell her I loved her? What if I didn't really know her like I thought? What if we could have been closer? Would she be proud of me? Just all these things I wonder but I think I know the answer to them, Yes they know I loved them but I should have told them more, Yes I knew them and I only saw the good in them I choose to remember the good rather then the bad, the picture is so much prettier that way. And I know they both would have been so proud of me for growing up into the woman I am, I have found a school path that I LOVE and the man that I LOVE. Although I miss them every day I will enjoy my days down here on Earth and know they are missing me just as much but one day I will be up there with them joking with my Aunt and people watching with my Grandma but until that day I got to go out and LIVE!! I can't hide my pain and my sorrows, that would disappoint them both. I have to be HAPPY, live life to the FULLEST!!!

T-Swizzle

So let me just start off by saying..my hubby is AMAZING :) so now that you know the basics I will continue.

As everyone that knows me knows.. Taylor Swift is my all time favorite. Like I would become best friends with her at any time and help her write her songs about all her boyfriends. I mean ok this last cd has made her seem like quite a psycho with all the different boys she writes about and stuff... but hey psycho is fun sometimes :) Anywho last year me and my best friedn Charlotte went to our first T-Swizzle concert. We were seated on floor level in aisle seats so of course we went crazy. Well us being clever that we were noticed a small stage in the back of the floor seating. Like literally the chairs surrounded it. So we talked to a security guard and he told us she may or may not be performing back there later.. So later he came and told us to get up ;) We walked back to the pit area and I saw her mom and called her over. I asked her if Taylor had a meet and greet and we missed it but she told us to wait there. A few minutes later she called us over and told us to come into the pit and sit on the sound stage...
LITERALLY 5 feet away from where taylor was going to perform. OMG THE TIME OF OUR LIVES WE HAD!!! She performed in front of us for about 20 minutes and we hugged her and got her guitar pics.
Needless to say Taylor is an AMAZING performer and puts on a great show and I cannot wait until we go this year. YES THAT IS RIGHT MY HUBBY BOUGHT US FLOOR TICKETS FOR THE SHOW AND AISLE SEATS AT THAT! So of course we are going to have the time of our lives and act like fools so we can go and meet Taylor afterwards and go to her T-party.. So I just had to let yall know and brag that I'm going to the show because my husband is AMAZING and got me tickets just because he loves me... and I may have begged :)

This is how close we were :)

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom Teeth Ohhhhh BOY!!!

So today was the day that Nick was SUPPOSED to get his wisdom teeth out. Me being the person I am, worried all day long. I didn't get a call telling me he was ok or nothing for hours after his supposed surgery. So the reason I had a minor freak out was because on our honeymoon he had a bad allergic reaction to something and we had to call 911 on board and all that great jazz and it was just plain scary. At that moment, our short life together flashed before my eyes and I couldn't hold back the tears and fears that I might lose my husband. Well so because of this it freaked me out that he was going under "the knife" (even if it was just for wisdom teeth) because we don't know what all he is actually allergic too and I would hate for them to find out. Also the fact that I cannot be there with him during that is killing me. I'm his wife I am supposed to be there for him to help him while he's down but of course I can't be. Maybe this is God's way of just making us an even stronger couple. Learning to live, laugh and love to the core even when we can't be physically together. So anyways to end this blog it ends up that his dentist sleep machine thingy was broken so they couldn't put him to sleep so he is going to be a TOUGH soldier boy and get them pulled out next week sometime with just local anesthetic. Let me just say I'm a wimp and would never agree to that. Just proves what a Superman he is :). This is all... I get to worry again next week and possibly ruin my makeup again before school because I start crying over worrying about it! FUN FUN FUN!

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Ok so this is my first blog ever. Kinda figured it was like a journal but for the whole world to see.. How exciting yet scary is that. Everything has been a whorlwind lately. You never really know how fast time is actually going until it starts to slow down and drag by. That is how it has been going since January 13. The day my husband left me to go back to Italy for the next few months. So lets start at the beginning of 2010 and recap how this all started. Before you read this there is a disclaimer: YES I know that this is not how most relationships start BUT this is our relationship and it is perfectly perfect for us :)

January 2010: I ended a year long relationship and was not looking for anything new. I was going through a hard time with my brother leaving for Afghanistan for a year and also a breakup so looking for another guy was not high on my to do list. Well I decided that I wanted to "befriend" some of the guys in my brothers Platoons to keep them company and be a friend while they were over in Trashganistan. Also the little sneaky sister that I am did this to keep tabs on him and make sure he was ok because it's Justin and he doesn't just casually call to tell us he is ok... So I needed my informants. Well one of these days I was asleep in bed and around 3 in the morning I get a call from my brother. Well of course my phone was on silent and I did not know that he called until I got a notification of a voicemail. This voicemail was saying "Devin my friend Chisenhall says to add him on facebook." that is all it said. So of course I added him cause I'm nice :) So blah blah blah blah blah January turns to February and February turns to March. This whole time we were just sending friendly messages back and forth to each other. I think our first messages to each other he told me I "had some really nice legs" hahaha smooth talker.

March 2010: So March arrives and nothing has really happened in our relationship, still just the casual flirting. A few days into march I get another call from my brother and he says "Nick says he is going to marry you. He told me after the first time yall talked." Well me being the smartass I am tell Justin to tell Nick "Tell him I'm a princess and if he wants to marry me he will have to build me a castle!" Not thinking that anything was gonna happen. I sure did underestimate my Prince Charming in combat boots :) Next thing I know I was tagged in this picture... A picture of the rocks he collected to build my castle..

My Rocks for my castle.

April 2010: Around this time Nick and I finally had our first Skype date. Let me add in here I am so greatful for Skype without Skype I do not know how I would have made it through this past year. Our first Skype date was amazing. To this day Nick remembers exactly what I was wearing. And tells me how beautiful I looked. Me on the other hand was just worried that my hands and feet were all clammy and I was sweating from nervousness... Glamorous I know!! After this Skype date Nick began saying, Devin I'm going to come visit you during my R&R. I of course said sure come on. Not thinking he actually would. Boy was I wrong.

April 30 2010: This is the 2nd happiest day of my life. Nick was supposed to get to my house from Cincinnati at around 10 a.m. but unforseen rental car problems made it so he didnt get to my house until around 9 p.m. that night. Although that day was miserable waiting for him I wouldn't have had it any other way. We got to have our first kiss at night in the rain. Just running to him and wrapping each other in our arms and having out first kiss.... How Notebookish RIGHT?!

Our 1st Kiss in the rain... Notice the rainboots :)

April 30 - May 12 2010: These days flew by. I made sure that Nick had many first. His first time to the beach at Tybee Island, 1st time in Savannah, 1st time having boiled peanuts, 1st Zaxbys experience, 1st Breakfast in a cup.. It goes on and on and on. While in Savannah he also proposed to me with a ringpop. After about 3 days in Georgia we went up to Cincinnati for a week. It was a great time. I got to meet his family and church family and experience big city life. I fell more and more in love with Nick as the days went by. May 12 was possibly one of the worst days of my life. It was the day I had to leave Nick to go back home to Georgia. By leaving I knew that I was going back home and he was going back to Assghanistan for the next 7 months. Although I was going back I knew that life was just starting. I was going to be with this boy forever.

May-December: We wait and wait and wait and wait for the boys to leave Trashghanistan and come home. I definately couldn't have made it without my Army moms, wives, sisters, and girlfriends to get me through it. These months sucked and we will not talk about them.

December 15-January 12: As much as I have to blog about this time I will cut it short. This was the best month a girl could ask for. Not only did I get my love back I also got to marry him! I got to celebrate the start of my new life with so many people that made it to my wedding. Although some very special important people in my life were not there, my Aunt Robin and my Grandma I knew how excited and happy and proud of me they were up in Heaven. I know my Aunt Robin was probably dancing around up there and my Grandma was probably just sitting there people watching and enjoying all the fun. Our wedding day was magical and I would not have changed a thing about it.... Even the M.I.A groomsman and the UGLY cake that decided to fall appart before the wedding.... Ok I would have changed the cake. But all in all I got to marry my best friend and start my life with him. I got to be with family and friends and celebrate our love. I could not ask for a better man. He is my other half, my best friend and the missing puzzle piece I have been looking for. My family loves him and he loves my family and I am so thankful for that.

Although some people would not and do not agree with our "rushed" relationship, it was perfect for us. We got to know each other on a personal basis rather then a physical basis. We didn't have our first kiss until 4 months into "talking". We got to know the inside of each other and not the outside. Yes people will judge and that's ok but for us we wouldn't have our relationship any different. Yes we could have drawn it out a few months or years but December was the right time for us. So judge as you might but I would say we knew more about each other before we actually met then most people do. And that was right for us.

The rest is history.. He is now back in Italy for the next few months. BUT life will go on and we will survive because you know what... It could be worse. He could be back in Afghanistan.. But he's not. I am married to the man of my dreams and he is safe and sound so I couldn't be more blessed.

If you finished this whole thing... Congrats you just spent 10 minutes of your life that you won't get back but you also got to see what the past year of my life has been like. Hope you enjoyed a year in the life of Devin!
